‘DIVA’
THE V&A MUSEUM - June 2022
Returning to the V&A for another contract I thoroughly enjoyed working on this exhibition full of Hollywood and theatre glamour. It felt like a delightful mix of my life in film and theatre costume mixed with my work in museum display mounting! The garments I worked on for this exhibition focused on Bette Davis’ gown from the 1950s film ‘All About Eve’, Joyce Di Dinato’s red gown from the opera ‘Norma’ and Mary Pickford’s 1924 film 'Dorothy Vernon of Haddon Hall'. Whilst these gowns were the main elements of my work I also did little jobs here and there, like stitching down some pads for a Josephine Baker gown, which is too fragile to display on a mannequin, and the inside of a mannequin which was displayed a height so as to not distract from the lovely mounting work of one of my colleagues!
Photos taken by myself to show my contributions to the exhibition.
